2025 Varsity Letter Awards
Congratulations to our 2025 Varsity Letter in Community Service recipients. 22 students earned this award, and together they served a total of 7,226 hours of community service!

Eli Andino, Timberline High School, Class of 2025
Eli volunteered 638.5 hours. Most of those hours were served at True Grace Church, where he provided tech support and childcare. Eli is fluent in Spanish (and also received a Seal of Biliteracy), and he helped orientate new Spanish-speaking students at Timberline High School.
Daniel Wisniewski, Timberline High School, Class of 2025
Daniel volunteered 299.5 hours. He volunteered as a docent at the Lewis Army Museum, where he led guided tours and answered visitor questions. He also volunteered at the Lacey Makerspace, where he helped members with projects like welding and 3D printing. Daniel plans to study engineering in college, and he says that he learned many skills that he will use in college and beyond while volunteering.
Audrey Matzen, Timberline High School, Class of 2025
Audrey volunteered a total of 386.5 hours. 240 of those hours were managing the Timberline boys swim team. She also volunteered with the Lacey Stream Team, where she cleaned up a park, removing blackberries and other invasive plants.
Jaden Sablan, Timberline High School, Class of 2025
Jaden volunteered 315 total hours. 288 of those hours were as a youth football coach with the Thurston County Youth Football League. He also volunteered with the Lacey Police Department.
Anna Bauersfeld, Timberline High School, Class of 2026
Anna is one of three juniors who earned a varsity letter this year. She volunteered a total of 278 hours. Most of those hours were with the childcare program at Faith Lutheran Church. Her favorite part of volunteering was playing games and spending time with the three- and four-year-olds in her classroom. Anna also volunteered at the Timberline Winter Warmth, where she made blankets to donate to City Gates Ministry.
Kiana Richards, Timberline High School, Class of 2025
Kiana volunteered 573 hours. As Miss Capital City’s Teen, Kiana spent 235 hours volunteering to spread awareness about mental health and suicide prevention. She also spent 225 hours teaching ballet to younger students at the Johansen Olympia Dance Center, and 87 hours volunteering at community events sponsored by the Capital City Lakefair. The rest of Kiana’s volunteer hours were from the Timberline Booster Club and Timberline High School.
Davion Killebrew, Timberline High School, Class of 2026
Davion served 331 hours, and is one of the three juniors receiving the Varsity Letter in Community Service this year. They spent 120 hours as the manager of the Timberline boys swim team and also spent 105 hours volunteering with the Timberline Key Club, at events like Day of Champions and the Lacey Spring Fun Fair. Davion’s favorite volunteer experience was the Solo and Ensemble competition.
Oliver Vandewark, Timberline High School, Class of 2025
Oliver volunteered 296.5 hours. 123 hours were with the Timberline High School theater program, where he played bass guitar for the musical We Will Rock You. He also volunteered with Timberline High School, Life Pointe Church, and City Gates Ministries, where he distributed food and other supplies in downtown Olympia.
Liliana Joy Mendiola, Timberline High School, Class of 2025
Liliana volunteered 269.5 hours total. Most of these hours were served in Guam, where she picked up aluminum cans and other litter. Liliana spent over 200 hours picking up trash on famous tourist beaches. She also collected donations of art supplies, and helped decorate the Timberline High School library.
Cameron Carufel, Timberline High School, Class of 2025
Cameron volunteered 256.5 hours. 78 of those hours were with the Thurston County Food bank, where he distributed donations at the Lacey warehouse. Cameron also volunteered with Faith Lutheran Church, Black Lake Church Camp, Timberline High School, and with the Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive.
Mackenzie Judah, River Ridge High School, Class of 2025
Mackenzie volunteered 302 hours and plans to become a labor and delivery nurse, so spent 60 hours volunteering at Providence St. Peter's Hospital. She also volunteered as the River Ridge Cheer team manager, with the Chinqually Booters soccer club, and at multiple elementary schools in the district. Mackenzie’s favorite part of volunteering was working with the patients at St. Peter's Hospital.
Vivianne Peterson, River Ridge High School, Class of 2025
Vivianne volunteered 322 hours total and plans to become a nurse, so 220 of her volunteer hours were with the Graceland Agency, a home care agency, where she job-shadowed and supported caregivers. She also spent 102 hours volunteering in the River Ridge library, where she shelved and checked out materials, and provided book recommendations to other students.
Alice Ly, River Ridge High School, Class of 2025
Alice volunteered 250.5 hours. Most of those hours were managing the River Ridge boys swim team. Alice volunteered with the ASL program, where she signed Christmas songs at a holiday event; and with the River Ridge Robotics Club, where she organized a “STEM Engineers in Training” program at Lakes Elementary.
Celine Joseph, River Ridge High School, Class of 2025
Celine volunteered a total of 274 hours. 102 of these hours were spent choreographing, teaching, and performing a Filipino and Caribbean dance. Celine performed these dances at the River Ridge Multicultural Assembly, other schools in the district, local retirement homes, and colleges. Celine also served as the River Ridge student advisor to the NTPS School Board. She also volunteered with the River Ridge Black Student Union, Unified Sports, as a peer mentor to middle school students through Big Brothers, Big Sisters, and many other events at River Ridge.
Avelynn Ward, River Ridge High School, Class of 2025
Avelynn volunteered 253 hours. Most of those hours were with a church in Visalia, California, where she provided childcare. She also volunteered at Gingerbread Night at Meadows Elementary, at the River Ridge boys swim meet, and a blood drive hosted by the River Ridge National Honor Society.
Justin Wright, River Ridge High School, Class of 2025
Justin volunteered 280 total hours. Most of the hours were with the Thurston County Youth Football League, where he volunteered as a coach in training for the youth football team.
Mackenzie Gallovitch, North Thurston High School, Class of 2025
Mackenzie volunteered 263 hours. 140.5 of these hours were with the North Thurston High School Interact Club, where she volunteered at many events, from dressing up as the Pleasant Glade Panther mascot to staying up for 24 hours for the American Cancer Society Relay for Life. She also volunteered with TOGETHER! Club House, and multiple events at North Thurston High School.
Eunice Cho, North Thurston High School, Class of 2025
Eunice volunteered 402 hours and is one of three juniors receiving the award this year. Most of her hours were with Multicare COPE Health Scholars, where she assisted nurses at Tacoma General Hospital. Eunice also volunteered with Joint Animal Services, the Thurston County Chamber of Commerce, multiple events with North Thurston High School, and the Puget Sound Estuarium, where she led tours of the estuarium and assisted with a summer camp for elementary age students.
Ashley Yourkoski, North Thurston High School, Class of 2025
Ashley volunteered a total of 321.5 hours. Most of these hours were soccer related. Ashley managed the North Thurston boys' soccer team, and volunteered as a soccer coach. Her favorite volunteer experience was being the music coordinator at the Special Olympics gymnastics meet.
Madison Perry, North Thurston High School, Class of 2025
Madison volunteered 341 total hours. 100 of those hours were in the North Thurston High School athletic training program, where she supported athletic training in multiple sports and learned about taking care of injuries. Madison also volunteered with the Marine Corps, and her favorite part of volunteering was laying down wreaths at a veterans’ cemetery.
Rena Huster, North Thurston High School, Class of 2025
Rena volunteered 253 hours. Most of her hours were spent working in the True Grace Church childcare program, where she worked in the baby room. Rena plans to become an educator, and she loved working with the babies and seeing them learn and grow over time.
Payton Chapman, North Thurston High School, Class of 2025
Payton volunteered 320 hours. All those hours were spent working as a cheer coach for the Thurston County Youth Football League. Payton loved working with the younger cheerleaders and coaching them on cheer skills.
