Compassionate Community

Our focus in 2024-25 is on helping ensure hunger never gets in the way of student success. We are partnering with All Kids Win, a local nonprofit that provides weekend food to students in Thurston County.

There are many ways our community can help:

• Assemble food bags as a group
• Deliver food bags to schools
• Host a canned chili or tuna drive
• Collect cash donations
• Collect grocery store gift card donations

We encourage schools, businesses, and community organizations to organize at least one activity during the 2024-25 school year! Please take photos of your activity and send them to communications@ntps.org so we can celebrate our compassionate community.

Contact All Kids Win through their website to schedule a volunteer opportunity or coordinate drop-offs of cash, gift cards, and canned chili and tuna.
 

Report your acts of kindness to help us reach our goal of 100,000 acts!

Our focus for the 2023-24 school year is Culture of Kindness. We want to celebrate the many ways our students, staff, businesses, and community members display kindness.

We all have a role to play in building a culture of kindness that spreads throughout the community.  Let’s celebrate acts of kindness in our community. Volunteering, mentoring, listening, seeking others’ perspectives, learning about others’ cultures, and raising funds or materials are all acts of kindness.

Our actions can help create a more caring environment. Each of us can practice courageous kindness, stepping outside our comfort zones to support others and create positive change.

We will track acts of kindness throughout our community between now and the end of June 2024—let’s achieve 100,000 acts of kindness as a community! Help us meet our goal by submitting your act of kindness. We will highlight acts throughout the year on the NTPS Facebook page. Your act of kindness may inspire someone else!

We are continuing our theme of The Spirit of Giving Back for the 2022-23 school year. With our schools and students impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic last year, we want to continue this theme and celebrate volunteering in the community.

The campaign spotlights the ways students, community groups, employees, individuals, businesses, clubs, and organizations give back to our community.

Here is how you or your group can participate:

1. Pick up a "Spirit of Giving Back" banner before your event at:
   • NTPS District Office (305 College Street NE). Each school will also have its own banner.
   • City of Lacey (420 College Street, SE)
   • The Lacey South Sound Chamber Office (3925 8th Avenue SE Ste C)
2. Send a selfie/photo of you/your own group holding the banner and a short description of your project to publicaffairs@ci.lacey.wa.us, so we can post them on our Compassionate Community Facebook page for everyone to see (please return banners when done).
3. If you can't pick up a banner, send us your service/volunteering photos anyway!

NTPS selected community service and volunteering as the focus for our 2021-22 Compassionate Community Project. Titled "The Spirit of Giving Back," the year-long effort highlighted the many ways your classes, clubs, teams, schools, businesses, organizations, or group can give back to our community. Participants proudly displayed a "Spirit of Giving Back" banner during their projects and shared pictures of their good work with NTPS and the City of Lacey, who promoted the service on their communications channels.
