Special Education

Special Education refers to programs designed to accommodate a wide variety of students with special needs, from hearing or vision impairments and speech difficulties to severe mental and/or physical disabilities. We believe that all children can learn, and it is our responsibility to help them reach their potential.

The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) requires schools to provide families of a student who is eligible for, or referred for, special education with a notice that includes a full explanation of the rights available to them. If you believe your child may be a candidate for special education services, please start by contacting your child's school special education team.

New to the area and have a student currently eligible for special education (has an IEP)? Start by enrolling at your neighborhood school. Each of our schools has a highly qualified team that will contact you and help you begin the transition process for your child. Welcome to NTPS!

Already enrolled at NTPS and have concerns about your child's development? Contact the teacher and school psychologist at your child's school to initiate a referral through the Child Find process.
