Lacey Education and Family (LEAF) Center
Lacey Education and Family (LEAF) Center
In spring 2026, we began construction on the Lacey Education and Family (LEAF) Center! We expect to open the facility in fall 2027.
This preschool and family education facility is funded by the 2024 NTPS Capital Levy for Safety, Technology, and Facilities Improvement. The 2023 Legislature appropriated $1 million from the Ruth Kagi Early Learning Facilities Development Account to support the architectural design phase of the center.
The LEAF Center will:
- Serve up to 600 students annually with high-quality indoor and outdoor preschool spaces.
- Offer family-friendly spaces for parenting classes and other agencies to provide families with on-site health and wellness support.
- Provide a commercial kitchen for serving students' nutritional needs.
Working with community partners, we are exploring future additions such as such as a splash pad, library space, indoor recreation, and creative play spaces, to support family-based physical activity.
Community planning partners:
- Thurston Economic Development Council
- The South Sound YMCA
- Lacey Parks, Culture & Recreation
